What this is

Noema is a personal project run by Lewis Francis, Lowestoft. Using it means accepting these terms. They are written to be readable; if anything is unclear, ask.

Your account

You need an account to use the app. Keep your password to yourself, and give a real email address — it is the only way to recover access. One account per person.

You may close your account whenever you like. Doing so permanently deletes your notes and cannot be undone, so export them first if you want to keep them.

What you write

Your notes are yours. No ownership of them is claimed, no licence over them is taken, and they are not used to improve anything or train anything. They cannot be read by the operator — see the privacy page for how that is arranged.

You are responsible for what you write. Do not use the app to store anything unlawful.

Paying for Noema Plus

• Noema Plus is £4.99 a month, or £49.99 for a year, billed through Stripe.
• It renews automatically until cancelled. Cancel from your own settings at any time — nobody needs to be asked, and no reason is required.
• Cancelling stops the next payment. You keep the paid features until the end of the period already paid for.
• Your notes are never locked away. Everything you wrote while subscribed stays fully readable, searchable and exportable on the free plan.
• Under UK consumer law you may cancel within 14 days of first subscribing for a full refund. Beyond that, if something has gone genuinely wrong, ask — refunds are not treated as a fight.
• If the price ever changes, existing subscribers will be told by email at least 30 days beforehand.

Free-tier limits

The free plan includes a fixed number of minutes of voice recording, and the full Inspiration feed for an initial period. These are shown in the app as you use them. Writing, searching and the reading plan are free without limit.

What is not promised

This runs on a single server maintained by one person. It is looked after carefully and backed up nightly, but no guarantee of uninterrupted availability is offered, and it should not be your only copy of anything you could not bear to lose. The export feature exists for exactly that reason.

Speech recognition is imperfect by nature. That is why the app requires you to read a transcription through and correct it before it becomes a note — accuracy is never assumed on your behalf.

To the extent the law allows, liability is limited to the amount you have paid in the previous twelve months. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud, which cannot be limited.

Ending things

You may stop using the app at any time. An account may be suspended if it is being used unlawfully or to harm others — with an explanation, and with a chance to export your notes first, unless the law prevents it.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, registered users will be told by email before the change takes effect.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
